How Megace ES can help your patients With just 1 teaspoon once daily, Megace ES may help your AIDS patients improve their appetite, gain weight, and improve their sense of well-being.1 Unintended weight loss Unintended weight loss is an involuntary decrease in body weight and can be a common disorder in patients with HIV/AIDS.21,22 For these patients, maintaining adequate caloric intake is especially difficult.29-31 Unintended weight loss can greatly impact AIDS patients in the following ways: • Loss of physical function23 • Significant mortality risk24 • Greater risk of hospitalization12 • Depression and withdrawal from daily activities23,25 Unintended weight loss is also associated with morbidity and reduced quality of life.
