What Is Megace ES?
Megace ES is an advanced formulation of megestrol acetate oral suspension and is an appetite stimulant prescribed to patients to help increase appetite and regain weight with just one teaspoon daily, without regard to meals. It is indicated for the treatment of appetite loss, severe malnutrition, or unexplained, significant weight loss in AIDS patients.1
A study done over a 12-week period showed that most patients taking megestrol acetate regained their appetite and increased average caloric intake by approximately one third based on the recommended daily allowance of 2000 calories per day. Patients also showed an average increase in weight of approximately 11 pounds.1
