About Megace ES

Megace ES is indicated for the treatment of appetite loss, severe malnutrition, or unexplained, significant weight loss in AIDS patients.1 It is a reformulation of megestrol acetate oral suspension and is prescribed for patients to help improve appetite and gain weight.

When you don’t feel well, eating may be the last thing you feel like doing. When you lose your appetite, it can become very difficult to get the nutrition your body requires to function. This can lead to unintended weight loss.

Unintended weight loss can occur along with medical conditions like AIDS. If you are experiencing loss of appetite, food doesn’t seem appetizing to you, and you’re losing weight without trying, you may have a health problem that requires treatment.

How can Megace ES help?

The reformulation of Megace ES can help you improve your appetite so that you may increase the amount of food you eat or calories you take in. This will help give your body the nutrients it needs to function with just 1 teaspoon once daily. Megace ES has a light, lemon-lime flavor. Its consistency is similar to whole milk which is less thick than original formula Megace®,* which has a consistency similar to Mylanta®.† 6 This may make Megace ES easier to swallow.

Megace ES is absorbed whether or not you have eaten. In people who have not eaten, it is absorbed into the body more quickly and more completely than original formula Megace.*‡ 1 Megace ES can help you increase your desire to eat and can help you gain weight, which can lead to an enhanced sense of well-being.1
